John Baxter - CEO
John is a Certified Financial Planner. Having been the national sales manager for a large adviser business, he went on to establish his own adviser practice in 1997. This was amongst the very first adviser businesses in the UK to make the transition from a transactional, commission-based model to a fee-based, holistic financial planning and wealth management practice. By 2002 he was inundated with enquiries from other advisers who wanted to undertake a similar transition and so he launched TRUE Financial Planning to run alongside his adviser practice. TRUE was the precursor to Veracity - a third-party service assisting advisers with their Wrap adoption strategies and managing their transition from commission to fees. In 2006 John became CEO of MLP Private Finance Plc, the UK arm of Europe’s second largest financial adviser before joining Macquarie as Head of Financial Planning and a Divisional Director in early 2009. In January 2011 John and Tim successfully completed the Management Buy Out of the Veracity business which continues to lead the field in the RDR Business Transitioning space. John is committed to having a positive impact on the industry both by assisting advisers in the run up to RDR and beyond and by building the leading brand in fee-based advice in the UK. He is passionate about working with the industry to improve the client experience.
Tim’s career in financial services started over 15 years ago in the bank and building society sector. He became interested in open architecture investment solutions when working on a number of insurance company SIPP products with PPML in the late 1990’s. He went on to establish and run a SIPP department for a top 30 IFA before joining forces with John Baxter 7 years ago to establish and develop the Asset Migration Team. The Asset Migration Service was at the heart of both the TRUE and MLP businesses and is central to the Veracity proposition. Tim has fulfilled the role of Company Secretary at True Financial Planning, Head of Operations at MLP Private Finance Plc and a Director (Head of Operations – Financial Planning) at Macquarie. Tim is focused on service delivery and is responsible for the operational planning and strategy for Veracity. He is an expert at process mapping for adviser businesses and an experienced project manager and runs the Veracity business day to day.
Gavin Johnson – BDM, South
Gavin was the first member of the Veracity team to come on board and has been involved with the business since before the launch, joining Veracity from Towry Law, where he worked as a wealth adviser. Having been an adviser for over ten years, Gavin has a unique perspective in the Veracity business as both an employee and a client. We constantly test our new ideas and processes with Gavin to ensure that we are continually delivering what our clients want. It’s very important to us to keep the voice of the customer in our business. Gavin has successfully introduced many new firms to Veracity and is responsible for the development of our analysis tools.
Katie Walmsley – BDM, North
Katie joined us recently from Standard Life Wrap, where she had spent the last five years helping advisers embed a wrap proposition into their business. Katie managed the Standard Life team of Wrap Implementation Managers in the North region, and brings to Veracity a really thorough understanding of the UK Wrap and Platform market. At Veracity, we are keen to support advisers with the development of their platform adoption strategy and the ongoing management of their yearly wrap due diligence. We believe it is essential that firms select the right wrap for their clients and business and are integrating with more Wrap platforms over time. One thing you can count on at Veracity is our experience – Katie alone has worked with over eighty firms embedding a wrap into their business.
